The Destination Campbellville Community Association is thrilled to announce the creation of a student bursary for a deserving Grade 7/8 and Grade 11/12 student for outstanding volunteer contributions and community involvement.

The DCCA Bursary Selection Committee was very impressed with the range and extent of volunteer activity by our Nassagaweya youth. After much deliberation the DCCA Bursary Selection Committee is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2019 bursary awards are Annika Peck (Gr 12) and Joseph Marquardt (Gr 8). Congratulations to current and past winners!

Two bursaries will be awarded. One to an elementary school student and one to a high school /gap year student for outstanding volunteer contributions and community involvement.
The award will be a maximum of
- $300 for a Grade 7 or Grade 8 student and
- $1,000 for a Grade 11 or 12 student or recent high school graduate taking a Gap Year (completed high school but has not as yet enrolled in a post secondary institution)
There will be no restrictions on where the Bursary may be spent.
Deadline for applications:
Applications must be received no later than April 6, 2020.
Qualifications of Nominees
To qualify, the nominee:
- Must be a resident of Nassagaweya
- Must be a Grade 7 or Grade 8 student (public or private elementary school or equivalent) OR
- Must be a Grade 11 or Grade 12 student in high school (or equivalent) OR a recent high school graduate taking a Gap Year (completed high school but not as yet enrolled in a post secondary institution)
Nominations may be made for the same individual more than once (for example a Grade 7 student could be nominated again in Grade 8) but an individual may only receive one award within each category (Grade school and High School / Gap Year)
The boundaries of the Nassagaweya area are as follows:
- Northern boundary: Highway 7 and 32 Side Road
- Southern boundary: Derry Road
- Eastern boundary: Tremaine and Nassagaweya-Equesing Town Line
- Western boundary: Millborough Line and Nassagaweya/Puslinch Town Line
The student nominee must have demonstrated outstanding volunteer contributions and community involvement. Examples:
- Worked/assisted in volunteer organizations (eg. church; youth; residential homes; animals)
- Mentored others at school/groups/teams etc
- Displayed acts of leadership within the volunteer group
- Worked well with others in a volunteer setting
- Showed and acted on own initiative
- Displays clear willingness and interest to continue volunteering
Academic grades are not a barrier to applying for the DCCA Bursary. A noted and tangible interest in and participation within a community on a volunteer basis is a must.
Who can nominate:
Anyone can nominate a person who qualifies as a candidate. The nominee must be
- a resident of Nassagaweya
- a Grade 7 or 8 student (public or private elementary school or equivalent) OR
- a Grade 11 or 12 student in high school (or equivalent) OR a recent high school graduate taking a Gap Year (completed high school but not as yet enrolled in a post secondary institution)
For example a Grade 12 student could nominate himself/herself or a friend; an aunt or uncle/parent/grandparent can nominate a qualifying candidate.
